I haven't looked at the D90. The D300 in 12-bit mode does clip a few DN above zero, but it behaves well in 14-bit mode.

The D90 does hot pixel NR starting at 1sec.

I don't see what black clipping has to do with it, since the filter is applied to all tonal levels, not just those near black.
