To overclock or not......

Hi,

I am considering a new system but on a restricted budget. I cannot afford an i7 system which would be ideal and so am looking at a professionally overclocked system.

The options are:

1 X Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz overclocked to 3.20GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail
1 X Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
1 X Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel
1 X Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler

or

1 X Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz @ 3.60GHz - Retail
1 X Asus P7P55D Intel P55 Motherboard
1 X Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
1 X Zalman CNPS10X-Quiet CPU Cooler

Perhaps for future upgrading the i5 would be the better bet as I do not see a future for the 775 processor.

Buying an unclocked i5 system of the same spec would save me about £50 which would help towards the cost of a new graphics card[ I have the hard drives and OS].

I will be using the PC mainly for photo editing and the odd video. In real terms will I gain very much in speed by going for the overclocked system?

Many thanks

Peter
