Dirk,

Another fine set, I particularly liked the first one. At first glance, it looked like the ship was cutting into the dock. Good reflection.

Richard.
While it's sunday I had a lot of jobs to finish for clients and
decide to go out for an hour to take some pictures, here are some
results (more will be added in the future), some more can be seen

Always the master of light, Dirk, it looks like you under exposed this a little to get the right effect or did you alter it in PS ? It's really beautifully done ! It reminds me a little of the lighting in the following image of the Audi tt from your World of Light gallery. Very nice work !

Best Regards, Beiklo

Hi Dirk. All 3 are well executed, but the first is a fabulous photo. The reflection in the puddle makes this already interesting seen stupendous.

Dirk,

I've clearly seen your influence on jacques, and the wonderful first shot seems to indicate that a little bit of jacques has rubbed off on you, and I mean that in a very good way. All these shots and your album boast the typical high quality that we've come to expect of your work, though the first and third are especially enjoyable in their detail and color. I have not used the S2 much at night but I can see that it will be very enjoyable, based on your demonstration of its capabilities.

My best regards and respect,

Robert

Hi Dirk:

Nice job, I like very much the first one by it surreal look, perfectly thought, composed and exposed.

Did you shot with tripod or monopod these. I'm thinking about to buy a monopod to feel my self a bit free. Does it good for you?
Have a nice week

Hi Dirk,

Well at the first attempt to write a comment the system reacted a bit strange.

All tree are wonderfull, wonderfull in mastering the light.

Yes I think I do learn a lot from you , looking more intensely at the light, how the light is building interesting almost sacred glows of light on top of peoples head, buildings and all other kind of shapes. I most certainly am aware your way of capturing is influencing me, not in a demanding way, just in a very pleasant way, I do enjoy our free walkings of taking photographs and discussing of what we like and we do not. By free walkings I see the day at the Oostende boulevard, we had to use the GSM to find each other, just 80m away from each other.

Robert thinks to see a bit of my view in the first, well I think there could be more in the second and the third, well thre might be nothing at all and I don't care about if it is or should be vissable.

Realy love the colors in the second, the colors of decay, the colors of rust, allways so fine in the red browns,

jacques.

BTW I did prepare so many of last Saterday, but thre are just too many.

And be sure the blurred girl is just a lucky one, th evalue of it I just noticed as soon as I opened the images on the PC, do have some more obvious, but not that kind of surprise.

Hi Richard,

Thanks very much for your kind appreciation. And after reading your comment I could see what you mean, and I like to look at that way to to the picture.

Hello Beiklo,

Thanks for the very kind words and yes I adore and really enjoy light, I'm fascinated by light. And you are right I underexposed it 1,5 EV to achieve the result in the picture that you mentioned, I didn't touch it in PS, I would try to have the very warm and mysterious light and colors for this image. They are coming from mixed light with a big difference in color temperatures. I like to search on effects provided by mixed light (certainly if a part of late daylight is available). Oh and the Audi, there I made the light completely with PS to see what I could do when I couldn't find nice and intersting light outside.

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Hi Morris,

Glad to hear you and thanks again for the kind comment. I begin to believe that I'm living near to a wonderful city as I see how easy I can find lots of subjects for taking pictures.

I was very glad that it rained before and that I could use that one bigger puddle. I go back at that place and take some more two times but without puddles I shoot completely different shots in that area.

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Hello Robert,

Thanks for your intersting comment, as always, and I always love to read your comments. Interesting that you mentioned that Jacques and I are influencing each other, maybe in the sub conscient area and I think maybe more by talking about lots of things then by looking at each others images. I start to know my S2 better and better and am getting the images that I want the last time and I started to use more and more a tripod (hated it before as it takes to much freedom away), but I'm so happy that I buyed a new head for my Manfrotto, a kind of joystick head, so that I can direct and lock it in a fraction of a second, this gives much of my freedom back. I love the fantastic detail from the S2 when used with good lenses very much and I'm really amazed by the quality of the nightshots to. Today I made a new series and used exposures untill 12 seconds and again I was amazed by the incredible smoothness and detail in the images. I also like what can be achieved in night shots by serious overposure. Hope that you soon can find time to explore these capacities of the S2 to Robert.

Hi Martin,

Thanks, I know that you like the wide angle shots Martin. A shoot with a tripod, a 'Manfrotto' and I buy a new head for it, a kind of joystick and that gives a big part of my freedom back, I love it. Have also a monopod (Carbon, very light) that I use sometimes but not at evening or night as I'm sometimes using exposures until 10 seconds. I buyed also a bag with 6 kg of sand to attach to my Manfrotto when there is much wind or the underground is not very stable. I wish you also a nice week (I'm still overwhelmed with work).

With very kind regards,

Dirk

Hi Jacques,

Thanks very much, I also think that if there is some influence, hard to know that, it's more in the second and third picture but I think that I made similar shots years ago. I think that I don't have one style, I'm thinking, feeling and evaluating always a bit different, just like the weather and I regularly try other things or have other ideas, everything changes all the time I think and I find that fascinating. And I begin to feel like a lighthunter, I'm looking in all directions as I want miss nothing from the light around us, it is so fascinating some moments. Have to go on with my work now has I want to take free on saturday for a new wonderful shooting session with you.

With very kind regards,

Dirk
