EFS 18-135mm Macro?
I've had my 7D for 4 months now and just noticed on New Year's Day, while shooting in the 7 am rain in NYC, that there's embossed white text on the base of the lens: "MACRO 0.45m/1.5ft."
While I'm interested primarily in hearing about people's experience with the 18-135 as a macro, I also have a few tech questions.
Has someone calculated the ratio? If it can be considered a macro, I'm guessing then that any lens could be considered a macro at its closest focus... Or, at what ratio can a 35mm lens be considered a macro? 1:2 —half the original size?
This sample was taken at about 0.45m/1.5ft. at 5.6/135mm —the closest I could get to the rail and remain in focus. The water dropped stainless steel handrail is about 1.5" in diameter. (Taken with tripod.)
