And what a beauty it was with mirror lockup, DOF preview, solid build and great lenses! Now, some 38 years later the KX is long gone and I'm liking my Canon 30D and system but I am amazed at how the world has changed since I was shooting Kodachromes by the thousand way back then.
Just a reflection of the times, I guess.
Happy new year to all!

My first film SLR was the Canon Pellix QL w/58mm F1.2 in 1966 and now 44 years later I use the Pentax K-7 , DS2 and still have a bunch of film SLRs (PZ-1p,6x7 etc).

I have the film KX (which I preferred to the automatic K2) and now the DSLR KX. But my first SLR was the spotmatic.

My first camera was the Pentax S1A with an external light meter that clipped onto the top of the prism. Now when I go through my film archives I am very impressed by the sharpness and clarity of the Takumar F2 50mm lens on that camera.

And a series of others to follow both good and bad from Pentax and Nikon

Vivitar 220SL, essentially a knock-off of a Spotmatic. When the meter died in that camera, I then got a real Pentax SPII.

And still shoot with one. Bought my original new back in 1978 with a 55mm F1.8 lens.
