Got to take some pictures with the huge Tamron 200-500mm lens today, first time i used the lens and also still green with the camera. I am very pleased with it, I also suspect that if my a550 had the battery grip on it, then it would handle and balance better with my big lenses. Of coarse i cannot manipulate it as quick as my 700 but its very capable.

One thing I had forgotten about that did illuminate itself today is the lack of the quick MF button ( and DMF ), for what I was doing today the 700 would have been the better choice because of these features alone. To be fair though I dont think anything in the a550's class has it either however it just goes to show what a good design and feature loadout the a700 really was.....

Just updating this thread as I stumble onto things... As you can see in my other thread i still managed decent shots ( for first quick outing over lunch ) but for this specific type of shooting quick manual focusing would have captured a few moments I lost.
