It's actually 3 stops for the 2.8. Anyway, with my three small kids, I feel the 70-200 is invaluable, especially when the kids are old enough to be quick on their feet and playing on their own in the park (they are 6, 4 and 1). IMHO, there is no better lens for "getting the shots" in those circumstances. I also find that the F2.8 does get me a lot of kids indoor event shots. Probably my most used lens. Regards.
