Hello, I just got the GF-1 to complement my big Nikon D700, I am looking for a standard lightroom setting to develop the GF-1 RAW files so it looks more real, more like an olympus or a Nikon, so far the Skin tone sucks, people are looking like purple dinosaurs.... I am mainly a jpeg shooter who is extremely satisfied with his Nikon output set to "natural". I don't have time/energy/knowledge to fiddle with photos, I just want them to look right! Help!!!

I use LR and make a lot of people (any age) photos and NEVER had issue with RAW output in LR.

You say you are JPG shooter - I simply assume you do not know how to use LR in terms of color management. Maybe buy some video training?

You also say - you want output be similar to other bodies output. Why? Don't you want your photos look close to how it was (rerality) or how you want them to look?

Maybe I misunderstood you?

Please post examples so we can see/diagnose your issue. It sounds like you have a settings problem as this is not the norm. While people like to tweak the standard GF1 jpeg settings the camera defaults are far from unusable.

It is hard to tell if you are having a in camera setting problem or a Lightroom settings problem. Is this the first time you are using Lightroom?

Checked the white balance settings?

If you are a JPEG-shooter, why do you shoot RAW's with the GF1? Just shoot JPEG and be happy about it. You may get better results, as the camera can for example correct for the lense's geometry better than any third party converter.

Could you show us one "dinosaur" picture? Maybe people can help you figure it out.

Concerning what you said, I really suggest you to get E-P1 or E-P2 instead of GF1. To others, maybe GF1's RAW is not a big deal, but to yourself, I think the best, fast, one-solution way is swapping to Oly.

Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

One reason not to:
dpreview...

"The Lumix 14-45mm F3.5-5.6 OIS does extremely well in our studio tests. Panasonic has integrated software correction of distortion and lateral chromatic aberration into the system design, and this pays off with near-perfect results for these aspects of our tests; the lens is also unusually sharp for its class. Compared to the Micro Four Thirds Olympus M. Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 ED, the Panasonic does better in almost every regard; it even out-performs the best of the kit zooms for conventional DSLRs, the Olympus Zuiko Digital F3.5-5.6 ED. The differences aren't necessarily huge, but they're there."

Based on what? I really would like to understand? My friend has G1, E-P1, GH1. Uses both JPGs and RAWs (when necesary). And never complaint on Lumix colors...

Don't you think 1st post is just TROLLING ?

The OP posted 12 posts, most of his posts were in the Nikon forum and this is the only thread he started (ironically not in a Nikon forum). And to make people's skin tone look "like purple dinosaurs", either the GF1 concerned is really broken or the owner spends too much time watching Barney and Friends and thus can't use a camera (in which case the D700 is really wasted :( ).

In any case, if you are used to JPEG then continue taking JPEGs. RAWs are meant to be PP and if you don't want to PP then don't use RAW.
