native resolution ?

i recall something or other re:printers and their "preferred" resolution. was it 350 dpi for Canon printers and 360dpi for Epson printers. I have one of each (Epson 2880/Canon i950).
Should I be saving/resizing images at certain dpi for these printers?

I have been using Qimage for quite some time and had forgotten about the printer DPI issue. Does Qimage (Studio) resize automatically to native res?
I sometimes print directly from RAW converter.

What is the benefit of saving/printing an image at the printers "native resolution?
What is the drawback of not?

Paul
