I am shooting paint code labels inside cars for diagrams, sometimes with very limited working space.Just curious, what is your intended use? Do you need 1:1 magnification or will something like 1:2 or even 1:4 work?

Why not get a Nikkor AIS 28mm 2.8 CRC ? It's a legendary lens for sharpness and might give you the the working distance you need.I am shooting paint code labels inside cars for diagrams, sometimes with very limited working space.

If your working space include the space needed for the camera then a point & shoot with good macro may be the way to go. With the small sensor and short lenses used the DOF will be better too.I am shooting paint code labels inside cars for diagrams, sometimes with very limited working space.Just curious, what is your intended use?
