A550 Macros (18250+close up lens)

Finally went out for a shoot last Sat, trying the A550+18250 with close up lens and 58AM flash.

Coming from the FZ30, this DSLR is much heavier! But definitely has a higher ISO performance. Happy with the ISO800 shots. Flash set in manual as I need to trigger a slave flash for better lighting control.

Settings: A550+18250+Close Up lens (raynox 250 or N6T+Sigma CU), F22 and various speeds, MF, handheld, photos are all postprocessed.

  1. 1: Jungle grasshopper

  1. 2: Lynx spider and prey

  1. 3: Planthopper

  1. 4: Spider

  1. 5: Marching Termites

  1. 6: Lesser Grass blue

  1. 7: Orange fungus

After the shoot, I find the LCD screen extremely useful, esp for the low angle shots like the termite and orange fungus. Its clear and the liveview allows me to gauge focus to know when to shoot (MF). ISO is easy to change, esp to suit the lighting conditions.

The AWB was abit off though, and had to tweak it abit.

Any comments appreciated, esp on the colours....does Sony give warmer colours?
