Hi,

My parents will be visiting Beijing next week, I want them to get me those 2 lenses for my D60 :
1. Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX
2. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm 1:1.8G DX

Can anyone please give me advice on what to check / notice while they buy it, Im afraid they will get something fake / bad.
What is the price range I can expect in Beijing for those lenses ?

Thank you,
Shai.

Maybe too late for you but I dont recommend buying in Beijing, I travel there often and have bought the occasional treasure ...the prices for China manufactured goods is good, but the Nikons like anywhere are in Japanese yen, not Chinese Kuai.

Warranties are also a problem as are your countries ...customs duties ...instead get them to buy you a Chinese made frying pan with an AM/FM radio in the handle ....or a hat with a plastic hood that you can pull over to keep your hat dry when it rains ...ingenious, these Chinese.

好运 (good luck)

Problem would be warranty. If you could find somewhere that sells with international warranty... Go for it, otherwise, not getting warranty could cost you a lot if the lenses are faulty.

Hi,

Thank you,

It is a bit to late now, but your advice is what I finally did, hope to get some non photo related gift ;-)

Shai.

Interested in what you say re buying and warrenty. What would your reactions be re Hongkong and Singapore. Any shops known to be good?
In Hong Kong you can buy without hesitation e.g. from Wing Shing in Mongkok, Digital Rev in Tsim Sha Tsui or any of the big chain stores (Broadway, Fortress ...).
