While the wrist strap that comes with the S90 is very durable, Canon left off a cinching device to adjust the wrist strap so it doesn't come off your arm. I've seen one fix for this...a small rubber washer, but when I tried that it just didn't seem durable enough.

Go to your local Lowe's or Home Depot and in the plumbing department they sell a clear plastic tubing with an inner diameter of 1/4" (20 cents/ft.). Cut off about a quarter of an inch and feed the cloth end of the strap through this and it works absolutely great!

do you have any pics of this tip?

Thanks for the tip! Heading to Home Depot after work tomorrow. If I buy 1 inch, I'll have 3 spares!

I also have the same problem with my Panasonic TZ-7.

I made do with a small section of a straw. The bellow section of the straw is especially good, as it provides some friction with its bellows, and it slides up and down easily enough.

Give it a try.

It would take a very large straw in the case of the S90 strap...it has to be 1/4" ID in order to slide easily, but yet hold it's position. I can certainly see a piece of a straw working on a smaller wrist strap, though.

It's too much trouble for me to put my hand through a wrist strap. I'm a true slacker. So, I tie one or more simple overhand knots on the strap, which give me something to hang onto when holding the camera. Not so secure as the wrist procedure, but I haven't dropped a compact camera or other small instrument thus secured ever.

Our Orbit is eccentric. Shouldn't you be too?

The slacker's solution (2). I traveled with mine last week for the first time. Also did not like the large open loop strap.

I tied one knot, about an inch and a quarter above the plastic piece where the strap ends. This made the loop above the knot small enough to keep it from falling if I dropped it, but large enough to get my hand through. You could move the knot based on your hand size. Worked fine. Also free.
