Don't forget your 1.5x crop factor. To get equivalent field of view on your Nikon as that old 35mm lens on your Pentax, you would need a 24mm lens.

Set your 18-200 to 24mm and frame a shot, then zoom to 35mm... Note the difference is actually quite a bit. Just an FYI. I do, however, think that the new 35 f/1.8 is a fine lens and a real bargain for the price. It is on my "to buy" list too.

That crop factor is also why the Tokina 50-135 makes sense on a crop body camera. 50-135 on DX is similar to 70-200 on full frame (like your old Pentax).
