Image Analyzer: Interpolation; Fourier Transform in Non-Scientific Photography

Stitch instead?

My experience from fooling around with interpolation is that it gets you at most 1 doubling in acceptable size (probably less) vs. something simple like bicubic.

An easy alternative would be to shoot your parchment in 4 or more quadrants, and stitch them together with a panorama tool (Hugin is one free possibility). That would get you real resolution.
