Thanks all! It was a great discussion, mainly steering away from the original question, but still interesting. I am sure there is a virtue of not being noticed, I am just not sure it is as important as people state.

Though I had an incident when I was covering a political rally and one of the organizers with a blow horn yelled directly into my ear: "You are taking pictures because you are scared of the truth!" Logic was not the theme of the rally in general, so I guess it would be nicer not to be noticed. It took a lot of effort for me to ignore him and just stick to shooting.
