Sure there's no noise, it's all removed by the (excessive) noise reduction... but the details are removed as well!

I guess it's a matter of taste. Personally, I'd pick the the D300, K-7 or 50D before I'd pick the A700 for high ISO quality. I'd rather have lots of details with lots of noise (I can remove the noise afterwards) than no noise with no details, since there's nothing I can't do about the lack of detail...


Since getting its last firmware 4, the A700 has been acting exactly like my Nikon D300 in low NR; better yet, you can also remove NR entirely if this is what you wish for.
