I still have my Coolpix, but I am probably better served buying an f2.8/25 than paying to have the Coolpix on/off switch fixed. Maybe I will pull it to bits and see if I can fix it myself ...

Nikon dropped the ball badly on all their P&S cameras, AFAICT. Sad when that happens. The Coolpix 8800 was the last one that was any good, it seems.

It seems they are clawing their way back now. Good to see.
