No, it is not normal. I don't think Auto gradation is a good excuse for this.

I seriously suspect you have also underexposed the image and then tried to fix at PP. I had the E-3 and I definitely say this is not normal for the E-3 at ISO 200 unless it is an image which is seriously underexposed. One of the disadvantages 4/3 has is the lack of head room in exposure. If you expose right the image looks stunning, but if you make some mistakes (deliberate or forced) the camera will punish you. This is my experience with the E-3 but I think with other cameras are the same.

Other than that, like others already stated, set gradation to Normal or Off, not to Auto. Auto works reasonably well in sunny situations only, but even in those cases Normal is the preferred one.

BTW, if you took the shot in raw then you can change the gradation in Studio or Master. Try experiment and see what gives you the best results.
