Olympus and Panasonic need to resolve AF compatibility issues

Limited lens choices is the Achilles heel of the m4/3 format. Olympus chose to cripple the AF speed in the E-P1 to maintain compatibility with its line of 4/3 lenses with mixed results.

Panasonic's m4/3 offerings do not support AF compatibility with the Olympus 4/3 lenses. They are slow at releasing their own line of lenses and availability has been a problem.

If another company jumped on the idea and used an APS-C sensor and a more comprehensive lens lineup, m4/3 would be toast! Sigma is a good candidate.

Its time Olympus revised their 4/3 lens line with better support for faster AF with m4/3 bodies or redesign the lenses to provide dedicated functionality for m4/3.
