Re: gritty feeling when zooming 24-70?

Thanks for the input. So even after servicing, there was still some sand griding sound in the focusing ring? Mine is just with the zooming motion, not with the focusing motion. (Plus I thought this 24-70/L lens is supposed to be dustproof!)

It has happened to my 100mm f/2.8 macro after a trip to the beach, the colleague who borrowed my DSLR left it on the sand while he changed another lens, not knowing the lens is not weatherproof. The very fine sand went inside the gap in the rubber focusing ring and center glass elements and whenever I turn the ring there is a grinding sound. After service trip the glass elements have been cleaned but there is still a bit of sand grinding sound in the focusing ring (less than before).
