Sigma 18-250 Audible Noise

Guys,

I bought sigma 18-250 few weeks ago and have taken more than 200 pictures on my Nikon D5000. The lens is very quiet and I do NOT hear any quack, grinding or low pitch sound. However every time I turn it off if OR the camera goes into battery save mode, the lens give a dull audible noise. You hear the sound no matter OS is turned on or off. Looking at the viewfinder the image jumps when this happens. My curiosity and question is;

1) Is it Normal? Read some reviews that it is kind of common with sigma OS lenses with viewfinder correction.
2) Why this happens with shut off?
3) Has anybody else with 18-250 noticed the same noise?

I called sigma support line and they gave mixed opinions. So far I am pleased with the quality of images however I am unsure with this dull noise and contemplating on returning it if it is NOT normal.

Thanks,
Asif
