Hi guys,

Just took this shot out of my window, wondering which you like, BW or colour? Any other C&C on the pic welcome. 40D & 17-85mm IS used.

Cheers

The b&w. Because of the bright purplish spot on the road. And I agree with Bohdan that you need to cut the exposure some...

....is a feature of the scene, the floodlights are actually purple, and light up the road, I toned it down a bit in all honesty. To actually make a 'good picture' exposure I would have to use hdr, or play with masking part of the scene. I agree that in the BW the blown highlights may need cutting back by a stop or two, but the rest of the scene would be lost.

Cheers for the comments

I see what your saying. I thought the purple was lens flare. I have never seen street lamps that color. Could you post the original before you toned it down?
Just interested in how bright they were...
Thanks...

I much prefer the B&W, because its more dramatic scene.

It's all about the image, and the image is all about the light.

No, you can cut the whole scene by at least 1 stop, if not more and not lose anything. Having the buildings blown out is deal breaker for me. Try just playing with Levels, for a start. The stuff on the rightr is not important to the scene, imo, so could be sacrificed.

I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
