Truck Show On Saturday - Lens/Tips Advice Wanted

A friend asked if I would take some photos at a truck show his company is hosting this weekend. It will be mid-day, at the beach, in Jacksonville FL, so it will probably be extremely bright/hot.

My owned equipment is this:
-Canon 40D
-Canon 50mm 1.8
-Canon 24-105 F4L
-Sigma 70-300
-580EX II

I may have an opportunity to purchase a used 17-55 F2.8 tomorrow, so if that would be my optimal, let me know.

I have a polarizer for the 24-105L, and UV for 70-300. I would prefer not to have to swap lenses all day, but will if recommended.

I'm guess I'm just looking for some advice on what to prepare for. I've been browsing the site for some examples, so I'll use that for inspiration as well.
