77 photo panorama with 5DII

The 200mm f/2.8 lens is sharp so I used it in the Blue Mountains on Sunday doing some panoramas at Echo Point in Katoomba. The famous tourist site is the Three Sisters in the expansive Jamieson Valley. It is always a great experience no matter how many times you have seen it.

I ended up taking two rows of photos to capture the whole valley. I should have used manual mode and kept the settings the same but I used Ap and F8. Somehow, after ages, Photoshop CS4 did a merge and got the panorama together but messed up the colours of the trees in the middle. That was because some sky was in the top level but not the bottom so the colours were lighter on the bottom. The original jpg panorama was 80,987 X 9,596 pixels. I reduced it to 30,000 by 3,500 and then could save a jpg. That file was over 90Mb so I had to reduce it further to save it so I could post it on Smugmug. The end result is showing less than half the size of the original but heaps of detail.

I will have to return to redo this panorama!
