Coolscan LS-5000 working sound
Jul 30, 2009
Hello
I hope this is not off-topic. I am in the process of getting a slide scanner, and I have been offered from a computer (not photo equipment) shop which I mostly trust a "opened but barely used" Coolscan LS-5000 scanner. Indeed the aspect is very fine and seems to work.
The only doubt I have is about the audible noise it makes when scanning. It's very different from other flatbed scanners I have used (agfa, hp and epson)
I have recorded the sound it makes when scanning a slide in a single pass (no ICE4) and produced an mp3 files you can hear at:
http://aintel.bi.ehu.es/~jtpjatae/LS-5000.mp3
Could anybody confirm me if the sound is reasonable?
Best regards and sorry if really OT.
Eduardo
