Removing stuck filter....

OK I tried all the solutions on the web.

1. Lens upside down on rubber mat.

2. Rubber band around ring circumference for better grip.

3. Tapped around circumference to release friction.

4. Heated lens barrel to expand.

5. Heated lens barrel to expand, immediately placed filter end on block of ice to contract filter ring.

6. One of those rubber looped jar opener things.

7. I will try a hose clamp around the filter ring when I get the correct size.

This is a 82mm filter, they don't make 82mm filter wrenches, plus there is no room to use two of them as required as this is the Nikon 300mm F4 and the sliding hood blocks the lens barrel where the second wrench would be needed.

I removed the filter glass retaining ring and removed the glass, but I would like to remove the ring if possible to put a polarizer filter on it. I know that I can also stack the two filters but would prefer to do this right.

Any other suggestions besides cutting the filter ring off with a Dremel tool?
