...I too agree that there is something incredible about that 5mp Kodak chip. I think it was the really large pixel sites combined with Kodak know how (don't forget this was an incredibly innovative company that built their rep on imaging). ISO 100 shots had incredible dynamic range, great color and were ooooh so silky smooth.
I wasn't as impressed with the 8 or 10 mp kodak chips but I gotta say I always did wonder what a 20mp, full frame chip would have been like. All that detail with all that great imaging capability. MMMMMMM! I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it but I would have certainly wanted it.
