G1 and 7-14, pics

after reading the Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f/4 review on Srlgear,

and following Brian Schneider's thread with excellent pics and interesting comments, I revised my doubtful opinion, based on the MTF charts, on:

So I paid the VERY high price of 1115Eu, see: http://www.pixmania.com/obiettivi-panasonic/itit1_1_433_19339_0_0_0_00_sg.html

in particular if compared to the unique, edge to edge sharp on Full Frame of the Nikon 14-24, selling at 1450Eu, (but not so much so if compared to the not so fantastic Canon WA's...)

I went for a cycle stroll yesterday evening around Vercelli with the 7-14 mounted on the G1 and am VERY pleased. Very light and user friendly, very good resolution; the low edge res. and high CA in practice penalize only a small percentage of pics, in particular no problems with landscapes with an all-front subject. The in-built lens distortion correction software is useful and makes corrections in CR3 and subsequent cropping less necessary (probably some cropping is already performed automatically as a consequence).

All captures in RAW+jpeg, post processing in Lightroom2.3 and Photoshop CS3 with the DPI plug-in for HDRs (pics n.3 and n.4). The lost exif data of these two pics can be retrieved from the thumbs at:

Hope you enjoy and find it useful if thinking of buying this lens, comments are welcome also opinions from other 7-14 owners,
Cheers, Vittorio.
