As a followup, I used the new lens at the beach this weekend for family portraits. Since the lighting was very good I was able to use very high shutter speeds and everyone thought the pictures turned out great. After I took portraits of my son and his bride to be, all the other families wanted pictures too. My son was very happy with the pictures so I am pleased with the results.

Since I do not have any other L lens its difficult for me to compare to other results, but I believe the pictures were very sharp and the bokeh was very good, and produced better results than my 28-135 lens. Some pictures were OOF or the lighting was not correct (I definitely learned alot about lighting this weekend, and have a long way to go), but those were my error, not the lens.

Thanks for the great advice it helped me to have a more successful outting.
