many of the interesting Nikkor lenses use the old screw drive AF
system...which is hardly fast, quiet or accurate.

I have sometime I owned the canon 10D with 28-70mm f2.8L and 70-200 f2.8L also a kodak 760(F5 based) with a 24-120mm f4.5 screw drive AF. under most situation specially dim light, the 24-120mm on my 760 beat down a canon 10D with all kind of 'L' Lens. yes the screw driver AF is noisey, seen like a joke, and may rip your fingers off, but it got the focus right nearly everytime, while the canon 10D with a 24-70mm f2.8 the AF will rotate non-stop on the same situation.

you may think I am nuts, but i also tested alot of camera like 300D,20D,30D, 40D, 400D, 450D, they all have poor AF even with 'L' lens, the only exception I think is the 1dm2, it has the best AF in canon history, it is as good as the eos 1v film camera.

although I am swotched to nikon, but i still own 3 tops canon lens 17-40mm f4L, 28-70mm f2.8L and 70-200mm f2.8L, waiting canon to produce a camera which has good AF like 1dm2
