that being said I will always head to B&H first... no real reason, I just have always prefered them.

Regardless, if a company moves as much volume as either Adorama or B&H... there are going to be mishaps. Never had a problem with either (except being out of stock of the lens I want!!!)

I even use Ebay for a number of items and have only had 1 1/2 bad transactions from sellers.

Is it likely you would tell the truth here about lying there? LOL Your logic escapes me. You show a consistent pattern on resellerratings of simply denying what nearly all the negative reviews say. It is a shame that you are allowed to continue.
I'm sorry you feel I lie. Perhaps you could post the link of your
feedback on reseller's so we can see what transpired?

I got my 40D Refurbished in March --- service was excellent; camera is fine, delivery on time etc etc price was great too

then last week I ordered the Tokina 12-24 WA. They apparently have caller ID and my number in their system. the sales person answered, addressed me by name and askid if my 40D was okay.

I explained to the salesman that I wanted to order the lens but was leaving on a trip that would cover the end of the 14 day return period --- just in case. He agreed to an extra 7 days and confirmed that in an email. the lens is a keeper btw

But on the day before leaving I finally opened the filter I ordered with the lens and it fit fine (Tiffen 77mm UV) but the Tokina lens cap would not fit the filter. Last Friday I sent an email complaining about that. On the next business day (Sunday) they wrote back and apologized and explained that the cap would not fit any "thin" filter for wide angle but they were sending me free of charge a "Slip-on" cap -- if I wanted it rather than return the filter. I decided to try out the additoinal cap which was shipped the very next day. I do not know what a "slip-on" lens cap is so I will report back.

But the service was prompt and responsive.

It's a lens cap w/out screw threads which is held in place by friction. Some have deep side walls to facilitate this. They're useful when a traditional cap with screw threads cannot be used.

I have emailed Adorama and B&H with several pre order questions. I always get a very fast reply form Adorama. I do not get a very timely reply from B&H.

I ordered a Refurbished 40d with 28-135 from Adorama. Shipment was fast and as promised. The camera came in a sealed white box. when I opened it, it was missing the body cap. This was not Adorama problem as the box was sealed by Canon. the explained this and quickly shipped out a body cap for me at no charge.

I have purchased a few more things from them. I usually deal with Fred 37 at ext 2259. He has always been very helpful. However I bet they all are.

BTW I have placed orders with B&H also. The orders were fine, they just do not answer email very quickly.

Perhaps you caught B&H during a Jewish holiday? Your experience with them is not the norm. In my own case, Adorama flat-out ignored multiple emails. Some of my phone calls also never got through and were never returned. This all happened years ago, though-- perhaps they have changed (but if Jerry is still in charge of customer service, I am not betting on it.)
 
I'm having an issue with Adorama right now. Their site says that they will ship UPS, so I gave them my street address for shipping, and my mailing address for billing. There is no mail delivery to street addresses in the Vail Valley, we all have to go to the post office to pick up our mail. Someone at Adorama decided to send my order by the USPS, rather than UPS. In tracking the order, I found that it made it to Billings, MT, (where it was undeliverable) and is now being returned to Adorama. Adorama says they will resend it whenever it gets back to them.

Why does Adorama wait for the order to be returned before they ship me the order? They could take one out of stock, then put the misdirected order back in stock when they get it back.

Apparently they can't understand the difference between the USPS qnd UPS. Who confused Billings, MT with Avon, CO?

I hope I get my compact flash before my 5DmkII arrives!
 
My order never arrived. Adorama refused to refund my money or ship another item, saying they needed time to investigate. I eventually called the shipper and they had no record of any contact from Adorama about my shipment. My money languished with them with no recourse until I opened up a Paypal dispute, and eventually luckily got back my money. This was years ago, and hopefully things have changed at Adorama.

Just want to share my first time experience with Adorama and B&H.

I am from Singapore and have never ordered anything from either company online but on my recent NYC trip, I visited both shops on the same day.

B&H superstore is a place I dreamed about visiting and sure enough it didn't disappoint. The store is huge and people there are friendly enough. I already have the list so asking for the items are quite straight forward. one Canon 85L, one Pocketwizard MiniTT1, one FLEXTT5 (out of stock) and a couple of filter wrenches. The one thing I don't like was that the salesperson keep pushing the lens insurance coverage. As I will be bringing the lens back to Singapore, I don't feel the need for this insurance but the salesperson keep at it to the point that he put the insurance into the bill without my knowledge. At the end, I have to ask him to take it off when I noticed the item was there.

Upon checking out, I use their rest area near the exit to open up the items that I have just bought. I took out my 85L and put it on my camera to test the lens. Suddenly a guy at the counter shout at me. "NO PHOTO TAKING HERE!". I thought it is kind of strange to not allow people taking photographs specially in an area where they would expect people to test the stuff they just bought - including lenses and camera.

Went to Adorama in the afternoon to try my luck on the Pocketwizard FLEXTT5. Lucky me, they have stock. The store is a lot smaller than B&H but the people there were also very friendly. I was expecting a much bigger store after visiting B&H in the morning but I guess the most important thing is that they have the stuff that I want.
