My pre-D 50mm f1.4 Nikkor died. The least the auto focus does not work. It is my second most used lens; on my D80 about 25% of the time. To put a few hundred dollars into repair was an option. But the more I think about it, I may go with the 50mm f1.8 Nikkor. That costs $150 or so and comes with a 5 year warrrantee. Only downside, is it is 2/3 of stop slower. Will borrow a friend's copy over the weekend to see if I like it.
