I would keep the 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS USM

I recently replaced my 70-200L f2.8 (non IS), 2X Ext. and my 400 f5.6 with the 100-400 plus a 135 f2.0 and I'm very happy with that decision.

I personally found that the 70-200L is a super performer, but too big for my indoor puposes and too short for outdoor wildlife shooting.

At a micro I agree that the individual picture quality of the 70-200L f2.8 and the 400 f5.6 might be a little higher, but at a macro level I now take a lot more keepers simply because of the versatility of the 100-400 and its overal IQ is very high.

I should have made this decision a lot earlier.

The 135L is a whole other story.
