Oh bμgger, you meant use a camera?

I'm not sure about the legality of shooting them with small arms.

Lately, I've been checking into what we are and are not allowed to do
to sparrows where I live. Those flying mice are excluded from both
federal and Michigan state regulations protecting birds.

The vegetarian "thou shalt not kill" part of me is at war with the
part that wants to set up tip traps or take a .177 pellet gun to them.

Based upon my experience with squirrels you might try this little
trick. I learned it when I was out in the bush trying to get squirrel
pictures and it may work for sparrows. Go outdoors with your camera
to take their picture.

That's it.

Their gone.

That doesn't work for the squirrels or the sparrows around here. They're very bold. The cardinals, blue jays, robbins, and hawks are much harder.

Now that could be cool. I could go out once a day with a hawk, from April to September. Winter, with a caged bird of prey in the basement, I can't trap that many mice, I'd have to buy some...
