I saw an interesting sky and ran out to catch it. I am finding that the FA35/2 and the Zenitar 16 are working out the best for me. These are both JPEG's from the camera. Some level adjustments and resized. The Zenitar shot is a combination of two exposures.

K2000, Zenitar 16

K2000, FA35/2. A little was cropped off the top.

Just plain....... WOW !!!

The photo on top was taken with a Zenitar 16 FE on my little K2000. The exposure was ISO 100, F8, 1/13 with exposure bracketing of + and - 1 EV. The exposure was set on the brightest portion of the sky. I must add that I did shoot RAW + JPEG and these are from the JPEG's. The camera is set at Natural, +1 Fine Sharpness, -1 Contrast and -0.3 EV.

I took the 1/13 exposure for the sky and the +1EV shot for the pond. I opened the "pond" exposure, tweaked the levels to get it bright enough. I then opened the "sky" photo, tweaked the levels to get a better mood, copied the photo and pasted on top of the "pond" photo. I then erased the dark pond to reveal the lighter pond. I flattened it, then tweaked the individual channel levels to bring out the lighter reds, darker greens and darker blues. I then cropped off some of the top to see what it looked like.

Let me know if you have any more questions or comments.

Great image - compositon and exposure looks fine. My only comment is that (I'm guessig here) that the curvature of the horizion due to the 16mm lens (?) is a bit bothersome to my eye. but then again, mabye it's my eye and not your camera!

The water reflection adds greatly - that's why I like the 1st one better than the 2nd.

It is a fisheye and does have a significant amount of curve compared to a rectilinear lens but is not too bad on a crop camera. However, the FOV is at least as wide as a 14mm. Some say as wide as a 12.

Thanks!. I do like it as well. The ultra wide FOV captures the scene better and the Zenitar 16 seems to hold up well compared to the FA35.

Gotch on the curvature. It's a personal thing - I guess i prefer 'scenics' w/o any distortion to the horizon line. But actually as you say, the curvature is minimal considering the FL and lens type.

That lens is nice and the image quality is great.

The Zenitar 16 is a great lens. The curvature can be annoying to some but the FOV and quality have made it a favorite for many.

I am finding that if you stop it down to F4, it is very good. From F5.6 to F8, it can compete with the FA35 for resolution, color and contrast.
