Re: I love how ridiculous messages like these get posted...

about JPEG vs RAW still. You should use what works for you. I started
using RAWS and switched to JPEGS. I know very well what I can do
with one and the other. I still use RAWs on some ocassions, but I
gotta love someone trying to preach out of the blue without
convincing arguments why pick one over the other, as it if was a one
size fits all thing, because of their individual experience.

Well, I'm glad you are an expert, but many of us out there aren't. That's who this message is intended for. I wanted to share my experience for those of us out here that aren't as good as you and can't always nail a shot on the first try. If jpegs are so great, why do you "still use RAWs on some occasions"? I think I did make a convincing argument. I posted a link to a horribly shot photo that I recovered because it was shot in RAW

I am glad that for you RAW has been such revelation. For me, what I
found is when I learned how to do photography better, I didn't quite
get the blown highlights anymore, my workflow sped up, and instead of
wasting my time doing tweak tweak tweak for good color or other
things I could focus on photography better.

So you're saying there is a learning curve. You shot RAW, got tired of tweaking the pictures and it made you focus more on getting it right the first time. Well, maybe I'm on the same path as you. Maybe 6 months from now I'll be posting a message telling people to focus more on getting it right before you get to your computer, but I won't be an ass about it.

There are several pros that shoot and choose JPEG over RAWS for many
reasons. Again, I am happy for you that you discovered a revelation
for yourself, but please don't get on and preach the nonsense that
RAW is "the way to go." There are reasons and individual preferences,
that will shape one way or the other, and it's up to each individual
needs, preferences, domain of photography and I will dare say in some
cases, their skills.

Once again, this message is here to help convince the inexperienced shooters who haven't tried shooting RAW, to try it. I admit my skills aren't up to speed. If you read my original message, I'm more than a beginner, but that's it. Why do you feel the need to berate people? Do you need a hug?

Cheers,
Garrett
