Highcontrast on dark room problem - wedding shoot...please advise.

Been taking some test shots at a wedding Hotel and wondering if there's a way to work around the high contrast problem i'm going to face tomorrow in the very dark room they are using.

On this pic you can see the subject is pretty well exposed but the room is very dark & dingy. The Bride will be even brighter with her white dress so the effect might even be worse. This was taken with 50mm prime, D90 & flash. F4 1/60th

I'm working without tripod so slow sync flash isn't really an option. If I drop the shutter speed to increase ambient light will i introduce too much blur ?

Any thoughts on how to improve the situation ?
