compact for indoor, low light photos etc

Hey all,

I am considering buying a new compact camera for indoor photos, and low light situations such as pubs/clubs/parties.

I have had a Canon A620, with which I am very unhappy. It does fantastic job, as long as you are in broad daylight, but impossible to get reasonable results when indoors in evenings or in any setting other than perfect daylight. Another problem is, its bulky and heavy and has an insatiable appetite for AA batteries.

A friend has an tiny compact Olympus (dont know exact model) point-and-shoot, it make great photos even in dim indoor setting such as a pub or club.

What would be a good compact point-and-shoot camera for indoor, and low light settings, with a rechargeable battery ? BTW, i am very cautious of buying another Canon, unless they have improved a lot. I need at least 10 mp, and prefer to have wide lens, and be reasonably small in size.

Suggestions?
