Can I connect older ACD to new iMac? I have the ACD adapter.

Excuse me if I'm not communicating this properly.

I believe the iMac's have just a mini dvi port? I'm assuming I can use the ACD to DVI adapter (which I have from a prior ACD), plus I'll need a DVI to Mini DVI to properly connect. Is this correct? Seems to me a great solution for the not so friendly 20" imac screen, would be to have an older 20"ACD as the main photo editing screen.

I'm thinking of picking up a new 20" imac, but I need to be able to edit accurately. And I found a mint 20" Apple ACD for $150.

thanks for your input.

I would call the apple store in your area. Or perhaps the apple forums. I know I connected my NEC verses and adapter to my 1006 imac. I'm sure it can be done. Jon L

The new iMacs have miniDP ports, so you'll need a miniDP to DVI adaptor (plus the DVI to ADC cable). But, any display still using ADC is likely so old that with the faded backlight and the anything but current technology that it won't be much if any better than a brand new TN panel. But just try to compare them yourself, this just my guess.

at least for color correcting accuracy. I'm not really impressed by a Glossy, High Contrast screen, doesn't work for me. Though I do think the iMac is a wonderful machine, and a great value. I've worked with the older ACD's and the newer Glossy, and I believe the older ACD's (20 & 22") are a great deal. Especially since I found a mint one, with a still bright output.

thanks.

This is the EXACT monitor I connected to my White iMac (pre Al backs) using the miniDVI to DVI, and then DVI to ACD adapter. No issues at all, worked perfectly.
