Need some tips on SX10 Shooting

Hey guys... with all your helpful insights and suggestions, I've decided to take the plunge for a SX10.

I know the SX1 will be a better option, but the price and availability are of no use to me at this point.

I'm heading to Daytona's bike week next week and will be attending the motorcycle races. I'm pretty much wanting this camera as a good overall walkabout without the fit and fuss of a full dSLR kit.. I just want to have fun this year

I know this will be challenging for the camera and I'm not expecting primo results. Plus I asked the sports question in another thread

What I am looking for though, is maybe some helpful suggestions to get me started.

Can I pan with the action and get the shot? (I've done this with my dSLR with good results)

Any special modes/settings I should be using?
