UniWB > linear curve?

Ok, I’ve managed to load the UniWB file onto my D700 - thanks to Iliah who provided the file ( http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1021&message=30959478 ).

But as it has been pointed out many times here UniWB has been to used together with a linear (tone) curve. Though I’ve done a search again I’m still not sure if I got it right. Maybe little dumb or it is just as easy as that?

1. Open ViewNX, change to Quick Adjustments and click the Launch Utility button so Picture Control Utility will open.
2. Select Neutral from Stored Picture Controls, store as new file name.

3. Click Use Custom Curve, set pre-settings to 0 (if not the case already), don’t touch Custom Curve as it seems to be linear by default.
4. Save on a flash card and import onto camera.

Hey, I can’t believe this is correct since the same could be done via in-camera menue.

Q1: Wrong so or right?
Q2: If wrong what has to be done?
