I think you trade one thing against another (and it will very much depend on a lot of things, incl. subjective ones).

But I am wondering whether VR improves AF speed (and accuracy) since it also stabilizes the signal the AF sensor sees (that might depend on whether AF processing is faster than the VR mechanism). VR certainly improves my MF skills.
