D40 Finally Being Discontinued??

Today, I was on the phone with a B&M location that also sells via the web here in Canada, and the cust service rep informed me that they are no longer able to order the D40. What he couldn't tell me was whether that was his store management's decision or whether Nikon was discontinuing their entry gem DSLR. I then spoke with Henry's and while they have stock and show availability from Nikon distribution the rep there did say that the timeline on the chip is expected to dry-up sometime this quarter or next.

I can get a D60 w18-105VR lens for $725 CDN at the moment, and while I prefer the D40 for a couple of reasons, I can easily live with the D60. That G3 of mine is getting slower and slower, and I am just waiting for a fatal error on the lens so I can go out and replace it --- needs to die first though.

I am intrigued, however, to know whether anyone had also heard whether the D40 is drying ups?
