Shopping in HongKong
Just thought I'd share my experience on this subject. I decided to go for a AF-S Nikkor 24-120 VR. Thanks to the dPreview forum, I knew that WingShing Photo is a serious business and that this particular lens would be 3,700 HKD there. However, I started out in Nathan Rd, Kowloon. From previous trips to Hongkong 10 years ago, I know that shopping in Nathan Rd can be bad. I soon found out that nothing's changed. A guy in a shop said I can get it for 2,500 HKD. I said great, let's have it. Then he wanted 500 HKD for the lens hood and was questioning whether this lens would fit my D700. Apparently he didn't have a clue about DX/FX differencies. Then I walked out, took a cab to WingShing and paid my 3,700. In Sweden where I live it's 6,500 so I still made a good deal.
