I understood that to mean non-uniform details in the target that get misinterpreted as noise when the assumption is made that the value in the region should be constant. For a dynamic range measurement not only is a uniform area needed but the signal level must be very low (black) so that the true-black sensor noise is measured rather than the signal to shot noise of some dark gray toned region. I don't see an appropriate raw image for this test at imaging resource.
