My wife and I are taking a well needed vacation to our favorite town
in Mexico. Its a small quaint town just north of Puerta Vallarta.
The scenery and authentic Mexican flare are beautiful. Its very
photographic!! I have a K20d as well as a K100d. I plan on
traveling light with only my 12-24mm DA. I do have concerns about
theft but I can't decide which camera to bring. My 12-24 is a very
expensive lens but the K100d I could afford to loose. Its a safe
town but not as active as typical destinations in Mexico. I'll be
bringing my Lowepro backpack thats more than enough to handle either
Should I just stop worrying? What would you do?

You don't have to, but would someone pay you for it?

I'd worry if I could trust my worrying enough to make things safer in some way. No, I'd worry anyway.. So I would use a regular backpack and put my side bag Lowepro in it. And I'd make sure my insurance could cover the photo gear at a reasonably low cost. If someone comes around asking for it.. bienvenidos.
