D50 vs D300 in an unscientific test

On a dutch forum that I visit I've joined a D300 discussion. One of the people there who owns both a D300 and a D50 was so nice as to mount his 17-50 on both and shoot a high iso pic of his living room.

I got both nef files and played with them in Capture NX 2. I am a bit disappointed, the D300 has a rather different color than the D50 shot. I'm a bit worried that I might spend 1200 euros on a body that will require me to do substantially more color correction and/or will give me weird pictures.

This is not intended as D300 bashing, trolling or whatever. I'm genuinely concerned about this.

Here's my blog post about this: http://wijnands.blogspot.com/2009/01/comparing-nikon-d50-and-d300-in.html

I'd apprieciate it if someone could take a look and tell me what's happening there.
