As I am only an enthusiastic amateur, I've only used JPEG on my D700
(as opposed to RAW). However, I have always been on "Optimal
Quality" JPEG compression and, I'll tell you, some files are huge.

Is that level of compression (as compared to "Size priority") really
worth it?

It's been a while since I originally asked that question. I understand that RAW is better and now often use JPG+NEF mode. However, if for whatever reason one has to use JPG only, would anyone know if the "Optimal Quality" compression is actually worthwhile?
