not an is problem

No, there is no indication of an IS problem. You would see poor sharpness throughout the image and the the center area would not be in focus. No, I seriously doubt there is any problem with this lens. Unfortunately, a nervous owner and faulty tests have only led to more concern. To test the optics, I recommend using a tripod with mirror lockup and a cable release. You need to be sure that the camera has a consistent focus. With my 450D, I would use liveview manual focus with the 10x. To access edge sharpness, the objects at the center and edges of the field of view need to be the same distance from the camera. This is usually not possible. The more reasonable approach is to shoot a flat scene. The OP has not done this in any of the test shots. Even with a "flat" scene, blurring at the edges can be expected. The objects at the edges will be further away from the camera than objects in the center of the FOV. This also occurred with the shot of the tree. The base of the tree is much closer to the camera, than a point many feet up in the air. The base and upper end of the tree cannot be exactly in focus at the same time.
